Business Intelligence Developer

Job Overview


The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for development and implementation of Business Intelligence systems, metrics, reports, analyses, and dashboards to drive key business decisions. This position requires working collaboratively with various departments and other BI team members to gather and transform business requirements into innovative BI solutions that effectively support the business.


  • Develop, test, and implement new data analysis tools for different departments in the organization
  • Create scripts and applications to extract data from all types of transactional systems
  • Create scripts and applications to take extracted data and create multiple data models to serve the user-facing BI applications
  • Create various data analysis reports
  • Update, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing data models
  • Interact with all company departments to understand their business needs and translating those needs to data models and presentation
  • Troubleshoot technical and data issues within the BI environment
  • Work with business analysts on technical specifications for new BI initiatives
  • Develop scripts to help system administrators audit and analyze data integrity across application databases
  • Develop visualizations and interactions within the BI applications
  • Provide technical input in long term design BI applications across the organization
  • Establish standards and conventions around all data elements and models incorporated in the BI environment
  • Build and maintain a library of standard calculated expressions to be used by other developers within BI applications
  • The above duties will be performed with self-direction, independent judgment and minimal supervision



  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Knowledge and experience with scripting languages and development
  • Experience with databases and data architectures
  • Knowledge of data types and corresponding syntaxes
  • Strong overall technical knowledge
  • Experience with database connectivity protocols
  • Experience in application development and testing techniques.
  • Experience developing charting and data visualizations
