Edesia is a nonprofit, social enterprise on a mission to end malnutrition globally. Since we opened our doors in 2010 we have reached over 14 million children across 60 countries with the life-saving foods we make 24 hours a day here in Rhode Island in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Progamme and USAID. Our dedicated team of over 100, hails from over 26 countries. Every day we work together to reach children caught in humanitarian crises all over the world and need mission-driven, energetic, passionate, problem solvers to join our team.


The Chief of Staff is a new, high-profile role at Edesia and will be critical to our continued success and scaling as we enter a high-growth time in our evolution. This position will serve as a right hand to the Founder/CEO and a key leader in oversight of interdepartmental priority projects. As a high-visibility strategic partner, this role will be involved in effective decision-making, project management, execution of strategic initiatives, and most importantly, helping to plan the future of Edesia. The successful candidate is organized and detail-oriented, flexible, adaptive to ever-changing needs, engaged, forward-thinking, proactive and can think BIG.


  • Work alongside the Founder/CEO to ensure the execution of the company vision.
  • Manage the Founder/CEO’s schedule.
  • Provide analysis, recommendations, and options to the Founder/CEO regarding high impact decisions.
  • Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to Founder/CEO, standing in on meetings, challenging ideas and offering a different perspective, and following up on action items with the team accordingly.
  • Operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level, handling the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departments or leadership areas of responsibility.
  • Anticipate the needs of the Founder/CEO and take immediate, thoughtful action in a logical sequence.
  • Act as an extension of the Founder/CEO and information funnel, filter, and facilitator with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Plan and organize board meetings, onboard new members and draft/update and communicate professionally new and existing policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Founder’s brand & reputation.


  • 7-10 years of experience providing strategic support at the executive level
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Strong project management abilities; capable of prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously under time constraints and within budget parameters.
  • The ideal candidate has a proven ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
  • Sophisticated understanding of organizational data, with essential need for robust simplicity. Your success strongly dependent on the ability to follow extremely complicated process and simplify the decision making for the Founder/CEO.
  • Can-do attitude with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Able to build trust across the organization.
  • Strong global understanding and background and/or interest in international development; solid understanding of nutrition-related or global health issues preferred.


  • Master’s Degree in related field.


  • Domestic/international travel may be required an estimated 10-20% of time.
  • Expectation is to be onsite at least 3 days per week.
