Edesia is a nonprofit, social enterprise on a mission to end malnutrition globally. Since we opened our doors in 2010 we have reached over 17 million children across 60 countries with the life-saving foods we make 24 hours a day here in Rhode Island in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Progamme and USAID. Our dedicated team of over 100, hails from over 26 countries. Every day we work together to reach children caught in humanitarian crises all over the world and need mission-driven, energetic, passionate, problem solvers to join our team.


Edesia is full of incredible storytelling opportunities, from the countries we ship our foods to, to the success stories of the children we serve, to our own employee stories – we just need someone to help us tell them. Taking direction from the Director of Development, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for all social media and drafting various external documents for Edesia. In addition, to having strong writing and storytelling abilities, we are looking for someone who is able to understand the importance of the Edesia voice, has a great eye for design, and can understand the global health/nutrition space.


  • Maintain Edesia’s social media accounts. Design clear, compelling posts and create engaging content using existing material and by capturing new stories and photos of Edesia’s work (including but not limited to: TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, FB, LinkedIn).
    • Monitor analytics for various social media channels and leverage feedback to maximize social media engagement.
    • Manage Edesia’s library of photos and case studies.
    • Monitor the quality and consistency of all photography, videos, online marketing, website, social media assets, internal/external presentations, newsletters and press releases.
    • Using clear, compelling language, draft various external documents including grants, newsletters, appeals, donor reports, thank you letters, etc.
    • Update print materials including brochures, postcards, one-pagers, business cards, annual reports, etc.
    • Understand and effectively communicate Edesia’s mission and values.
    • Make periodic edits to maintain Edesia’s website.
    • Develop content calendar and timelines for all visual and written communication activities.



  • Background in visual and written communications (2+ years preferred).
  • Interest in international development, global health, and/or humanitarian assistance; and able to get up to speed on nutrition-related issues.
  • Domestic and international travel may be required.
  • Excellent collaboration, listening, organization, interpersonal and self-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and WordPress preferred.



General office environment; occasionally works in production area. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc.

Expectation is to be on-site at least 3 days per week.
