The Communications Manager is responsible for the creation, management, and monitoring of all communications for the organization. This role will take part in shaping big ideas while executing tactically on a wide variety of communications programs. This includes execution and production of all copy, photography, graphic design, digital and PR assets needed to promote the work and mission of Edesia and its founder. In addition to interfacing effectively with all department heads, this person must possess excellent leadership qualities, be proactive and comfortable taking initiative, must have excellent organizational abilities, be comfortable working independently while managing multiple projects and be able to see opportunities for great storytelling, while being mindful of Edesia’s voice and aesthetics.


  • Contribute to the delivery of strategic communication solutions that help the organization expand its global reach and impact through effective marketing, communications, branding, public relations, and fundraising objectives.
  • Ensure brand content and messaging is well executed across all platforms externally on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and internally on GroupMe.
  • Serve as point of contact for all external communications by responding to inquiries and partnering with internal stakeholders.
  • Understand and effectively communicate Edesia’s mission and values.
  • Develop timelines for all visual and written communication activities; inform Founder/CEO of any revisions to project timelines that would jeopardize meeting goals.
  • Manage and monitor yearly budget; provide budgetary status.
  • Monitor and maintain quality standards for all creative department output; manage visual usage guidelines.
  • Monitor analytics for various social media channels and leverage feedback to maximize social media engagement and work on making Search Engine Optimization more effective.
  • Manage outside resources, including vendors, publicists, photographers, printers, freelancers, and other agencies, as needed.


  • Solid background in visual and written communications (5+ years).
  • Strong global understanding and background and/or interest in international development; solid understanding of nutrition-related issues preferred.
  • Willing to go the extra mile; domestic and international travel sometimes required.
  • Works well in an entrepreneurial environment; willing to roll up sleeves and work with limited direction.
  • Excellent collaboration and listening skills.
  • Strong verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal and self-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pre-press/Press knowledge.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and WordPress.


General office environment; occasionally works in production area. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc.
