ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Edesia is a nonprofit, social enterprise on a mission to end malnutrition globally. Since we opened our doors in 2010 we have reached over 19 million children across 62 countries with the life-saving foods we make 24/7 here in Rhode Island in partnership with UNICEF, World Food Programme and USAID. Our dedicated team of over 130, hails from over 26 countries. JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Development Officer will support Edesia’s strategic fundraising efforts with an emphasis on annual donors. The Development Officer will work through direct marketing, stewardship initiatives, volunteer management, and more to personally identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Manage a portfolio of approximately 250 individual donors and prospects
- Partner with the Director of Development to develop and execute a comprehensive stewardship program for donors at all giving levels.
- Develop and maintain relationships with donors, ensuring they receive timely and personalized acknowledgment, recognition, and appreciation for their contributions.
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on planning and executing donor engagement events, including small group gatherings, tours of our facility, and other cultivation activities
- Conduct research on current and prospective donors to identify opportunities for increased engagement and support
- Coordinate donor recognition efforts, including donor listings, plaques, and other forms of recognition
- Prepare regular reports on stewardship activities and results for the Director of Development
- Manage the donor database (Funraise and Salesforce), ensuring accurate and up-to-date records are maintained
- Support fundraising campaigns and appeals, including drafting appeals, creating donors lists, and providing logistical support
- Field general inquiries from the public and direct them to the appropriate Edesia staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as nonprofit management, communications, or marketing
- 3-5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or related field
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft office, and donor management software a plus
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and trends
- Passion for Edesia’s mission and commitment to improving the lives of children around the world.
