 Edesia is full of incredible storytelling opportunities, from the countries we ship our foods to, to the success stories of the children we serve, to our own employee stories – we just need someone to help us tell them. The Director of Communications is responsible for strategic planning, content calendar, management, and monitoring of all communications for Edesia. In addition, to having excellent writing and storytelling abilities, we are looking for someone who is able to understand the importance of the Edesia voice, has a great eye for design, understand the complexities of the global health/nutrition space and has the leadership abilities to build a small team.


  • Deliver strategic, forward thinking, creative, professional (yet full of heart), communication initiatives that will help Edesia expand its global reach and impact through effective marketing, communications, branding, public relations, and fundraising objectives.
  • Execution and production of all copy, photography, graphic design needed to create the assets needed to promote the work and mission of Edesia and its founder.
  • Create and manage (or outsource) all print materials including brochures, postcards, one-pagers, business cards, annual reports.
  • Manage the quality and consistency of all photography, videos, event branding, online marketing, campaigns, website, social media assets, internal/external presentations, newsletters and press releases.
  • Serve as point of contact for all external communications by responding to inquiries and partnering with internal stakeholders.
  • Understand and effectively communicate Edesia’s mission and values.
  • Develop content calendar and timelines for all visual and written communication activities.
  • Manage and monitor yearly budget.
  • Monitor and maintain quality standards for all creative department output; manage visual usage guidelines and voice.
  • Monitor analytics for various social media channels and leverage feedback to maximize social media engagement and work on making Search Engine Optimization more effective.
  • Manage outside resources, including vendors, publicists, photographers, printers, freelancers, and other agencies, as needed.


  • Solid background in visual and written communications (5+ years).
  • Strong global understanding and background and/or interest in international. development; solid understanding of nutrition-related issues preferred.
  • Domestic and international travel to developing countries sometimes required.
  • Works well in an entrepreneurial environment; willing to roll up sleeves and work with limited direction.
  • Excellent collaboration and listening skills.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, interpersonal and self-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Pre-press/Press knowledge.
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS and WordPress.


General office environment; occasionally works in production area. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc.

Expectation is to be on-site at least 3 days per week.
