The Director of Finance will establish Edesia’s financial policy and direction while also being an active participant in, and driver of, the organization’s overall strategy, modeling and analysis. They will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined financial systems, and oversee the Finance Department. As a member of the senior management team, the Director of Finance will be involved in strategic planning, evaluation, professional development initiatives and representing the organization externally.



  • Partner with the CEO and Executive Director (ED) on all operational and strategic issues as they arise; provide strategic recommendations to the ED based on financial analysis and projections, cost identification and allocation, and revenue/expense analysis.
  • Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process as an integral member of the senior management team.
  • Oversee long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with Edesia’s strategic plan.
  • Engage the management team to align financial management with short- and long-term financial planning and projections.
  • Work with the board audit committee around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model and operational delivery including the approval and review of budgets and financial statements.

Financial and Operational Management

  • Oversee budget, planning, and implementation of budgets, so as to monitor progress and present operational metrics both internally and externally.
  • Ensure the finance staff maintains financial record systems in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and monitor the use of all funds.
  • Oversee the preparation and approval of all financial reporting materials and metrics for funding organizations and Edesia’s board of directors; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
  • Oversee and coordinate all audit activities.
  • Evaluate all benefits negotiations from a financial perspective, thus providing the most competitive packages for Edesia employees.
  • Review all formal Finance, procedures, processes, and administration, recommending improvements to the systems in place and managing the systems going forward.
  • Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization’s operations and business plans.


  • Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
  • Work with Consults on cash investment and asset management.
  • Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.


The Director of Finance will be a leader with at least years with at least 10 years of broad finance experience, including at least 5 years in a Finance Director/CFO-level role. They must have experience gathering and evaluating financial information and making actionable recommendations to senior leadership. They will ideally have experience managing finance (accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting).

  • A minimum of a BS and CPA/CMA; an MBA would be a plus.
  • Mature and proactive, with evidence of having worked as a true business partner to the Executive Director. If coming from the for-profit world, nonprofit board experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting.
  • Skill in examining, developing, reengineering, and recommending financial, HR, and technology policies and procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model.
  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality. Needs to be seen as a team player who is committed to lifelong learning.
  •  A hands-on manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
  • An effective communicator, with strong oral and written skills.
  • Strong commitment to developing team members.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with a passion for the organization’s mission is essential.
