The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring an efficient, high quality, and safe manufacturing operation, working strategically to meet the goals of the organization. This role manages the leadership of the Maintenance, Facilities and Production Departments. While overseeing manufacturing operations, the Director will provide support in a wide array of functions that prioritize management development, continuous improvement, and high output operations in a LEAN manufacturing environment. They lead interdepartmental initiatives such as downtime study/reduction, trials and investigations.


  • Manage the leadership in Maintenance, Facilities and Production, and ensures the development and effectiveness of all members of their teams.
  • Serve as acting Manager for either departments in the absence of either Manager
  • Responsible for creation of assessments and development and growth plans for both departments
  • Direct and support the Maintenance Team in activities related to the maintenance of manufacturing equipment, tooling, processes and facilities
  • Lead and enhance the preventative maintenance methodology and programs with a clear strategy to evolve the maintenance operations fully into the predictive maintenance mode
  • Ensure the plant and facility operate safely at all times, compliant to all safety mandates and protocols – perpetuate the safety-first culture at all times
  • Improve and continuously evaluates effectiveness of the PM schedule, reducing reactive maintenance, develop an effective critical spare strategy, and train maintenance personal in the use of such tools. Expectations are maintaining >90% compliance to an on-time schedule
  • Generate weekly reports of PM status – produces exception to compliance reports and correction plans weekly to senior leadership.
  • Oversees the downtime reporting system and reviews the action plans and reports, identifying critical issues and working with Managers to address and implement solutions
  • Lead downtime time review meetings . Tracks and trends interventions for sustainable solutions.
  • Develop tools and reports to identify trends that need addressing, such as systemic and critical production issues, or issues of equipment and systems failures
  • Evaluate and further develop local resources for technical, mechanical, and processing assistance. Ensure a validated local source at the ready to assist in maintenance efforts beyond internal scope
  • Oversees departmental budgets to control costs of Maintenance, Facilities and Production
  • Responsible to understand and immediately take action to serve as one of the organization’s Process Control System subject matter experts
  • Contribute with new ideas and methods to improve safety, productivity, and quality. Lead and participates in the engineering changes and upgrades to support optimization of process and expansion of systems and production equipment. Often challenged to do more with limited space and resources
  • Contribute to planning of trials, CAPAS, investigations, etc… with a goal of identifying opportunities for improvement and promoting teamwork, collaboration and engagement
  • Serve as a visible, committed, and engaged member of all CI initiatives
  • Ensures department has technical support 24/7 “on call” Serves as backup when needed


  • Bachelors/technical degree
  • Minimum 8-10 years of hands-on management experience leading Maintenance, Facilities and Production teams
  • Advanced experience with electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, programmable logic systems, automation, and control systems
  • Fluent with control systems, electrical schematics, programming logic, principles of fluid dynamics (piping systems/pumps/controls, robotic tools and interfaces)
  • Knowledgeable on the latest and most efficient methods and state of the art technologies
  • Ability to be highly visible communicative, and an active partner to all operational departments
  • Experienced leading teams in a LEAN environment
  • Demonstrates keen sense of urgency in regards to manufacturing and project management
  • Highly motivated, results driven, dependable, self-starter able to use deductive reasoning and root cause analysis to approach and efficiently solve problems in a time-sensitive manner
  • Must be able to complete all tasks as encountered or assigned, utilizing professional and effective long-term solutions.
  • Must assume a leadership role in manufacturing operations
  • Must effectively partner with leadership team to promote long term success of the manufacturing functions
  • Microsoft Office and associated programs as well as virtual platforms as MS Teams, Zoom, Duo, and Skype
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with their technical team and other departments
  • Experience in a food production or pharmaceutical manufacturing regulated facility
  • Experience in high speed batch making and filling/manufacturing/packaging maintenance in automation-concentrated environments
  • Knowledge of and experience with Rockwell International products and systems
  • Understanding of cGMP requirements
  • Experience performing maintenance operations in a clean room environment


  • Industrial food manufacturing
  • Moderate / fast pace – schedule heavily dependent on machine up-time and performance
