We currently have an opportunity available at our Rhode Island headquarters for an Electrical Engineer ll. 

Primary Functions: 

Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of electrical components, equipment, and machinery. Supports the engineering department with electrical hardware and software design efforts needed to support small, medium, and large size capital projects.  Defines and develops scope of work documents, project budgets, and schedules needed for small scale capital projects.  Actively participates in obsolescence upgrade planning activities and initiates, manages, and oversees assigned equipment upgrades.  Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish assigned tasks and department goals.  Organizes and coordinates preventative maintenance activities for medium and low voltage power distribution equipment.  Works independently to achieve assigned tasks on time and within budget constraints.  Reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in new equipment design, procurement, installation, start-up, and testing.
  • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules.
  • Modify and upgrade existing system equipment to improve system reliability or address obsolescence issues.
  • Experience working with automated system equipment, including PLC’s, HMI’s, AC and DC drives, networking systems, sensors, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with computer aided drawing programs (Autocad, Visio, etc.).
  • Ability to interpret and develop electrical one-line diagrams, schematics, and cabling diagrams.
  • Provide equipment maintenance support (equipment design improvement, troubleshooting, and recommend/assist with repairs) as needed.
  • Supervise contractors and/or outside vendors.
  • Work independently, or in a team environment, with minimal supervision.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office software products. 

Education & Experience Required: 

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering (required)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Power systems experience a strong plus. 

Skills & Qualifications Required:

  • Strong PC skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Strong communications skills – oral, written and presentation.
  • Time management and organization skills needed to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
