Description

The specialist will work with the maintenance, engineering and production departments toward the shared goal of improved operations, reduced downtime and increased up rates. This will be accomplished primarily through the focused efforts of improving the preventive/predictive maintenance programs. The maintenance specialist may reports directly to the Maintenance Coordinator, Manager or Director.

Essential Duties:

• Assist/lead the maintenance department in achieving and maintaining zero accidents and first aids.

• Assist/lead the maintenance group in the troubleshooting/analysis of equipment related problems/failures.

• Expected to answer calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to support maintenance department.

• Review of both the “call-in” and “trouble” report. Analyze these reports to identify reoccurring problems/failures.

• Identify, evaluate and implement corrective actions, both short and long term in order to reach the goal of eliminating the reoccurrence of problems/failures. Work directly with both the maintenance and engineering personnel in the performance of these responsibilities.

• Oversee and follow-up with the status of all corrective actions through successful completion.

• Train the maintenance technicians in proper troubleshooting procedures/practices as well as repair methods and techniques.

• Develop methods of reducing operational cost through finding new vendor and product sources for spare parts.

• Streamlining procedures to improve efficiency and reduce contractor dependency.

• Continue to improve the CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) within the department.

• Continually improve the PM task and checklist for each piece of equipment. Monitor the PM performance and optimize the PM program.

• Review and ensure the proper spare parts are setup in our system as well as all relevant information is captured and recorded.

• Analyze and report data related to the PM program such as equipment failure analysis. Utilize this information to identify and implement PM improvements as well as to propose and justify upgrade project.

• Initiate and oversee all necessary PM service contracts with outside vendors.

• Continue installation, implementation, development and monitoring of our predictive maintenance programs.

• Make modification or upgrades to equipment.

• Design and installation of equipment and when necessary be able to justify capital money to accomplish project.

• Assist Engineer in major capital projects.

• Able to manage capital project with budget of up to $500K.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications Required:

• Possess a strong aptitude in both mechanical and electrical systems.

• Possess good communication skills both written and verbal.

• Able to read and understand technical documents and manuals

• Computer literate and comfortable with WINDOWS based software.

• Experience using the CMMS system.

Education & Experience Required:

• High school diploma is required.

• Preferably to have a mechanical or electrical engineering degree.
