In pursuit of our mission, we are looking to hire immediately a Packaging Engineer to monitor and control all levels, and all aspects, of packaging. We produce millions of squeeze packs that are packed in thousands of cases per day. Our explosive growth and customers’ increasingly stringent standards have made this a must-fill position. The Packaging Engineer will own the specifications for our film and boxes, become a subject matter expert (SME) in all packaging equipment, manage all investigations and trials, lead packaging-related continuous improvement projects, and create the “playbook” by which we evaluate any proposed changes or new suppliers.


  • Oversees, manages, and owns all packaging-related internal specifications. Monitors and implements all customer-dictated packaging requirements.
  • Leads all packaging-related projects by collaborating with internal teams within Production, Maintenance, Procurement, Quality, and Engineering departments and external suppliers and partners.
  • Identifies cost saving and continuous improvement initiatives related to packaging equipment, materials, labor, transportation and storage.
  • Becomes a SME for all levels of packaging equipment and works with other departments to establish, implement, and monitor processing parameters.
  • Specifies and implements tools/processes to analyze any changes to packaging structure or process.
  • Leads a cross-functional team to resolve non-conformances, draft and execute CAPAs, and conduct root-cause analysis when any packaging issues arise.
  • Leads a cross-functional team to identify new packaging-related equipment, and conducts project start-ups (FATs/SATs) and new equipment validations.
  • Works closely with packaging vendors to understand their materials and production processes and acts as a partner to improve quality, reduce defects, and bring their production under tighter control, when necessary.
  • Approve new packaging suppliers from a technical standpoint.
  • Conducts periodic RFQ process with new, prospective packaging vendors.


  • Bachelors in packaging engineering or related engineering field
  • Ideally 5+ years packaging experience, ideally in consumer-packaged goods and with preference in a food manufacturing environment
  • Must think like a scientist and employ the scientific method in problem-solving situations
  • Strong experience managing projects and leading teams in a cross-functional environment
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take self-directed initiative, consistently meet deadlines, communicate effectively and develop collaborative partnerships is required.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks and deadlines is required.
  • Preferred—Proficiency in French and/or Spanish.


General office environment. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc. Works in the clean-room production environment often. Ability to work remotely, as needed or requested. Domestic/international travel may be required up to 10% of time.
