The Payroll & Compliance Specialist will be responsible for providing services and support in some functional areas of Human Resources for the organization, under the direction of the Human Resources Generalist. They will possess meticulous attention to detail, a self-starter who sets priorities, has strong organizational skills, manages own work and meets objectives, and most importantly is able to maintain confidentiality and handle matters with a high level of discretion and integrity.


  • Performs all activities necessary to process a bi-weekly payroll, including maintaining related records, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management.
    • Performs year-end responsibilities to include W2 verifications and mailing.
    • Processes separate payroll for annual bonus program and/or any other special payrolls as requested.
  • Responsible for the implementation, rollout and maintenance of the activities conducted in the organization’s Human Resource Management System (Paychex Flex) which include: Payroll, Time and Attendance, Recruitment, Training and On-Boarding.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion, tracking and follow-up of all FMLA, TDI, TCI, Unemployment and ADA forms.
  • Partners with the organization with functions related to employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • 1-3 years of Payroll/HR experience
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven administrative (typing, data entry, filing, etc.) and analytical (working with spreadsheets and/or various reports) skills needed
  • Must be extremely well organized and methodical in approach to problem solving and be able to manage filing/database system
  • Has a positive can-do approach and can be flexible to change
  • Able to handle challenging confidential situations with the utmost professionalism, discretion, objectivity and a calm temperament


  • Experience with Paychex’s payroll and time and attendance system
  • Expertise in HR policies and procedures


General office environment; occasionally works in production area. High utilization of office equipment, phone, computer, etc.
