As a Programmer Analyst, you will be responsible for working across Toray Plastics (America), Inc. businesses to create solutions that will drive our business strategies for the shop floor enabling digitization of manufacturing processes and procedures.  As a solutions builder in Manufacturing Systems, you will need to create strong working relationships & influence across Toray Plastics (America), Inc. businesses to deliver solutions. Ensures all work is performed in a safe manner.  Corrects and/or reports unsafe conditions immediately.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for defining, developing, and evolving our Manufacturing Execution System (MES) software using MS SQL, C#.NET and VB.NET.
  • Translate requirements/vision into a prioritized list of tasks needed to build, test, implement, and support manufacturing solutions for production.
  • You will design user interfaces with technologies such as Angular, .Net Core, ASP.Net, Bootstrap (CSS), JQuery, NodeJS, and HTML.
  • Troubleshoots system (application and other) issues identifying and communicating solutions. Develops and maintains documentation detailing functional specifications, conversions, upgrades, interfaces, reports, forms and workflow. Ensures end-user documentation is maintained in accordance with established standards.
  • Write code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using the technology selected for the project.
  • Be an active member of the Information Systems team, contributing ideas, innovating on solutions and improving our systems over time
  • Interact with project and development teams in the business to provide updates and to gather feedback
  • Anticipate challenges and resolve conflicts.

  • NOTE: that  while the Programmer will be an employee of Toray (Plastics) America, they will perform duties to support the other US-based Toray subsidiaries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5-7 years experience in information technology.
  • Candidates with an Associate’s Degree and 7+ years of information technology experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 3 years with a proven track record in developing software applications and solutions with a heavy emphasis on the following languages: VBA / VB.NET, ASP.NET, is required and additional languages: TSQL, PL/SQL, Java, HTML preferred 

Desired Characteristics:

Technical

  • Skills for writing clean, readable, and easily maintainable code
  • Experience with JavaScript and JS framework (such as Angular/AngularJS)
  • Basic knowledge of Windows systems, utilities, and scripting
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (such as Git, SVN, etc.)
  • Manufacturing Execution System (MES) configuration and development experience is an asset (especially with the GE Proficy suite of software).
  • Knowledge of a development framework (DevExpress) is an asset
  • You have an excellent understanding of coding methods and best practices.
  • You have a strong understanding of database concepts, MS SQL programming, and data design.
  • You have experience integrating software with business systems.
  • You have exposure to manufacturing technologies, such as IIoT, data collection & analytics, OEE, scheduling, and factory automation.
