Supfina Machine Company, a provider of precision machinery to the automotive and bearing industries, is seeking a Service Technician who enjoys solving problems, installing new machines, and contributing to a talented team.

There is significant travel with the position but as a non-exempt employee, all travel time is paid time and if it is on a Sunday or a holiday then it is automatically paid at time and a half.

Position Summary

The Service Technician is a “hands-on” engineering position, working on Supfina equipment in North Kingstown, RI and at customer sites in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The position requires up to 50% of travel with some weekend work when needed.

Essential functions:

  • Mechanical assembly using a variety of hand tools and instruments
  • Troubleshoots electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control issues
  • Sets-up and runs Supfina lab and production machines with minimal direction
  • Understands basic functions and principles of superfinishing processes
  • Sets-up and run process lab metrology equipment with minimal direction
  • Designs simple tooling and fixtures as needed for production and test-work
  • Works wells with customer and engineering groups to solve problems on new and existing equipment
  • Installs and integrates new equipment at customer facilities, working independently and with support from Supfina to resolve issues on site


  • A two-year degree in a related field preferred

Skills & Qualifications

  • Machining and mechanical assembly experience required, CNC programming skills preferred
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues (both oral and written communication) at all levels of a company
  • Able to meet the travel and availability requirements of the customer
  • Able to work independently with minimal oversight from manager
