The Opportunity:

Senesco Marine is looking for a shipfitter trainee to perform tasks to lay out, fabricate, and assemble various metal structural parts of a ship such as plates and bulkheads.

You will be one of the lucky personnel to be a team member that makes up the premier Northeast builder of double-hulled barges, tugboats, ferries, aluminum CTVs and other vessels. Some of the team members have been with us for over 20 years and take pride when our vessels are launched and delivered to their respected owners.

 

This position is located at Quonset Point in North Kingstown, R.I.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Interest in ship fitting and understanding of industry terminology.
  • Able to lift tools up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, kneel, squat, walk, sit, or stoop. Full range of motion.
  • Must have correctable vision to 20/40.
  • Must begin to gather your own tools and gain the knowledge of their use, including but not limited to: 25 foot tape measure, 50 foot tape measure, plumb bob, square, adjustable square, bevel square, 18 inch level, 2 pound ball peen hammer, 5 pound sludge hammer, 12 inch adjustable wrench, weld shield, flash light, and chalk line.

Preferred:

  • Basic understanding of reading blueprints or templates.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.

Compensation:

  • Starting Pay is $16.50 /hr
