Summary of Position

This position is responsible for the initiation of projects, from strategy creation to execution to delivery to completion while monitoring and reporting their status to all involved parties throughout the program's lifecycle. This position plays a critical role during various phases of the program such as analysis, development, and implementation. They also play a key support role in mitigating any problems that may arise.

The technical project manager will also work across multiple teams to coordinate all the dependencies involved. This may entail responsibilities such as, negotiating scope, timelines, and roadmaps with the business owners, stakeholders, and the engineering teams. They may also support the product decisions necessary for the company's larger goals.

This position must be able to recognize and resolve system related problems; work independently and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process within department guidelines; perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively; communicate technical and complex information both orally and in writing to developers and upper management.

Position Functions

The role will have the following main responsibilities:

  1. Ensuring that products are delivered on time and within budget by:
    1. Apply project management techniques and procedures, including consulting with Operations Team to determine software or systems functional specifications.  Document the functionality and requirements.
    2. Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements, preparing a workflow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.
    3. Analyze user information system needs through research, evaluate and recommend solutions and appropriate technology to meet user's needs.
    4. Collaborating with system engineers and software architects by creating well written developer tasks based on issues and projects submitted by the Operations Team.
    5. Reporting product development progress to senior managers.
    6. Overseeing product deployment and integration.
    7. Diagnosing and resolving technical issues.
    8. Ability to evaluate product performance metrics, as well as diagnose and resolve issues.
    9. Contributing ideas to product development initiatives.
    10. Planning and managing product development stages.
    11. Evaluating product performance metrics and facilitating adjustments
    12. Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with industry standards
    13. Provides reference by writing and maintaining JIRA/Confluence documentation.
  1. Keeping up with advancements in product technologies.
  1. Recognize and resolve system related problems; work independently and make necessary decisions throughout the systems process within department guidelines.
  1. Manage multiple facets of a large-scale project and track progress for several programs at once
  1. Communication skills to deliver regular program reports, and verbal communication to effectively talk to team members and monitor program progress

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The candidate must have excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a team-oriented, fast-paced office environment.

This position also requires top-level verbal and written communication skills, along with technical writing and strong documentation skills, experience as a developer and experience working with MS Project.    Additionally the candidate should be:

  1. Proficient in writing SQL queries and working with data in relational databases
  2. Advanced proficiency in programming languages and coding, such as ColdFusion, JavaScript, JQuery, APIs
  3. JIRA experience, specifically in task management, service desk, reporting and confluence
  4. MS Project advanced skillset

Other Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer sciences, software engineering, technology management, business management, or similar.

Minimum of 3 - 5 Years of Experience in technical project management, systems design, programming and/or systems software and support.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, lift heavy file boxes, and answer and communicate on a telephone.

Hours of Operation: 

This position works Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.  This position will require occasional weekend work as well as after-hours follow up to ensure that all team members are able to access and utilize FIG systems.
